Rediscovering Ecuador's Beauty: A Nomadic Journey with L.A.M.A.
Dear readers,
First and foremost, I must extend my sincerest apologies for the lack of communication since our last blog entry. Rest assured, my absence was not due to a lack of adventure, but rather a whirlwind of activity that took me across borders and through breathtaking landscapes. Allow me to catch you up on the latest leg of our nomadic journey.
Leaving Mexico behind, I ventured southward, crossing borders and traversing diverse terrain until I found myself immersed in the natural splendor of Ecuador. But before delving into the details of this captivating country, I must backtrack momentarily to explain a crucial detour in my journey.
In the midst of my Ecuadorian escapade, duty called me back to Texas. I flew back to attend the L.A.M.A. Dallas monthly meeting, a vital opportunity to cast my vote in the election for the new board. Though the journey was brief, it underscored the importance of community and camaraderie, reminding me of the bonds that unite us as riders and adventurers.
With that brief interlude behind us, let us return to the heart of Ecuador, where the landscape unfolded before me like a vibrant tapestry of natural wonders. As I entered from the north, the terrain began to shift, gradually ascending to dizzying heights of almost 10,000 feet above sea level. The air grew crisp and invigorating as I wound my way up to Quito, nestled amidst the clouds with its colonial charm and historic treasures.
Continuing my ascent, I found myself drawn to the majestic peaks of Chimborazo, the highest point in Ecuador. At a staggering altitude of 14,500 feet, I stood in awe of its snow-capped summit, surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Andean landscape. The air was thin and biting, yet the panoramic views of valleys and glaciers stretched out before me like a painting come to life.
But the adventure didn't end there. A day ride to Aguas Verdes, Peru, offered a glimpse into the rich tapestry of Andean culture, as I traversed rugged mountain passes and fertile valleys. Here, amidst the sweltering heat and lush greenery, I found myself immersed in a world of ancient traditions and timeless beauty.
As I bid farewell to Peru, I can't help but wonder: what lies ahead on the horizon? What countries beckon with their own unique landscapes and experiences? Perhaps Colombia, with its stunning coastline and vibrant cities, or Bolivia, home to the surreal landscapes of the Salar de Uyuni. The possibilities are endless, and the road ahead is filled with excitement and anticipation.
Stay tuned for more updates from the road, and once again, my apologies for the silence. As always, thank you for joining me on this nomadic journey.
